Attribution

Determining who is really behind an anonymous account, campaign, or piece of infrastructure.

Attribution is the process of tying anonymous online activity — an account, a website, a campaign — to a real person or organisation. It is done through patient pivoting: reused handles, infrastructure overlaps, shared analytics identifiers, and metadata, accumulated until pseudonymity collapses.

Attribution is rarely a single smoking gun; it is a weight of consistent, corroborated evidence, and each step should be labelled by confidence.
