SIGINT is intelligence gathered by intercepting signals — communications between people (COMINT) or electronic emissions from systems (ELINT). It is typically the domain of state agencies with legal authority to intercept traffic.
SIGINT sits outside the scope of open-source work: OSINT deals only with information that is genuinely public, whereas SIGINT involves intercepting communications that are not.
