An Autonomous System is a collection of IP address ranges operated by one entity — an ISP, hosting company, or large organisation — identified by an Autonomous System Number (ASN). Knowing which ASN an address belongs to reveals who runs the network and what else they host.
ASN analysis is used in threat intelligence and infrastructure mapping to group related assets and understand the provider behind a target.
