Reverse DNS

Looking up the domain name associated with an IP address.

Reverse DNS resolves an IP address back to a hostname — the opposite of normal DNS lookup. It helps analysts understand what a server is, who operates it, and what other names point to it.

Combined with forward DNS and IP analysis, reverse lookups help map the infrastructure behind a target and find related assets.
